I’ll be in communication with you (or your midwife/doula) to stay informed of your progress and plan to come when you’re in active labor (usually 5-6cm). Because babies have their own timelines, I plan to be on-call from weeks 37-42.

Capturing your birth is my priority, so I plan to be on call 24/7 surrounding your due date and welcome a call in the middle of the night with news of the forthcoming arrival of your little one!

My favorite sessions are the ones in which I function as a true documentary photographer: an artist in the room feeling the emotions and capturing the moments that tell the story unfolding in front of me. My priorities are cultivating peace and preserving the authenticity of your story. My visuals are bright, clean and vibrant—I would encourage you to check out my portfolio to get feel for my style!

My goal in documenting your birth is to be a quiet, peaceful presence in the room, capturing your experience from the sidelines in a way that does not disrupt your process. In order to prioritize this I choose not to shoot with a flash at birth sessions, but rather utilize a soft, direct light on my camera that partners with the ambient light already present in the room. We will talk more about lighting when I visit your home prior to the birth and talk through your preferences for lighting.

Birth is an incredibly raw and vulnerable experience, and my intention is to capture the story through facial expressions, supportive hands and artfully framed angles that tell the story in a G rated fashion. Rest assured that any visuals I share online from your birth story will be completely modest! And we can certainly discuss keeping your photos private altogether if that is your preference.

Because birth photography is a new venture for me, I’m offering to capture your birth story for free at no cost to you. If you decide you don’t love the images or don’t have the budget to purchase any that is completely up to you.
